How can I protect myself from e-mail viruses in general?
The easiest way to protect yourself from viruses is to avoid opening attachments that you're not expecting or from people you may not know. If you're suspicious of an attachment, look at the filename of the attachment. If it contains multiple extensions (such as document.doc.pif), it has a greater chance of being a virus. Attachments ending in .exe, .com, .bat, .pif, and .lnk have the greatest chance of being malicious. It is also very important that you run Windows update often and keep your virus scanner updated with the latest software updates and definitions.
Even though we update anti-virus definitions on our server every day, we cannot guarantee that our anti virus server will eliminate 100% of newly created virus from your incoming emails. So it is very important that you keep the above in your mind and protect yourself from the virus.
